REGISTRATION CLOSED!!!! Signing Together: An Introduction to ASL with Deaf Instructor Brandy Bordelon

REGISTRATION FOR THIS CLASS IS NOW CLOSED. WHILE THIS IS THE LAST SESSION FOR 2026, ADDITIONAL SESSIONS WILL RUN IN WINTER 2027, SPRING, SUMMER, AND FALL 2027.

Join us at the Main Library on Goodwood for Signing Together: An introduction to ASL with a Deaf Instructor, Brandy Bordelon, from Louisiana Association of the Deaf (LAD) and Deaf Focus. In this class you will learn to communicate with the basic signs of American Sign Language from a native speaker. This will be a time to learn not only a new language but gain a way to connect with the Deaf community in your area. Learn. Sign. Connect!

This series will accept up to 25 adult students. Because each class builds on the knowledge gained from the previous session, students who do not make it to the first session, or miss another session without notification, or who miss two sessions in a row will be dropped from the roster. While children over the age of 9 can be by themselves in the Children's room and a sibling 12 year old or older can watch younger children elsewhere in the library while a parent takes this course, this course is intended for adults, only.

In 2027, an ASL II class will be introduced along with continuing ASL 1 sessions. Students who wish to enroll in ASL II must complete a full sequence of ASL I with Ms Bordelon, and have prior permission.
